Developing Youth Hockey Players

The mission of the Texas Outlaws Hockey organization is to develop confident, creative, and highly-skilled youth hockey players, while providing an encouraging, supportive, and family-orientated hockey environment. Texas Outlaws Hockey is a tournament-style organization, competing in tournaments at the local and national levels. Competitive games against various select and travel teams in Texas and the Southern United States will complement their schedule and provide high-level training that will prepare Texas Outlaws Hockey for success.

The foundation for player achievement integrates high-level experienced coaching with real-time individualized player feedback. Our feedback strategies are designed to build player confidence by identifying areas of strength and setting achievable goals to improve areas of weakness. Texas Outlaws Hockey employs a unique practice style that merges high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with fast tempo skill- and system-based drills. HIIT training is an interval training tactic that involves alternating short periods of intense exercise followed by periods of recovery. This training strategy better simulates game-style situations and will optimize player performance and team success. In addition to on-ice practices, outlaws’ players will participate in off-ice training to improve strength, agility, endurance, and stamina. Holistic athlete development sessions are integral to this organization and will cultivate skills, attributes, and values such as respect, which will assist athletes in achieving success in life. Specifically, these sessions will review hockey concepts, team expectations, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle habits.

During the Fall season, the Texas Outlaws have tryouts for practice players and tournament team players. Tryouts are announced in May and will be completed by mid-June. The Fall tournament season runs from mid-August through the end of February. Tournaments will be announced prior to tryouts in June.

During the Summer season, the focus shifts to individual Player development. The Texas Outlaws puts on Spring clinics each year that focus on power skating, edge work, and endurance. Spring clinics are announced in February and run from April to mid June.

Team Information

The Texas Outlaws are not just a team; we are a family.

While our focus during practice is skill development and teaching hockey IQ, our goal is to create a fun yet challenging environment for the Players. We do this through training and activities both on and off the ice.

When we travel to tournaments, we encourage you to bring your family along. Tournaments are not just a fun way to experience hockey, but also a great time to have an adventure.
